Photo Story

My nephew and I, 2009
A Photo Story is another fabulous multimedia project that can be done to illuminate a text. It requires the use personal images or images found through search engines, audio recorded by students as well as background music. These elements are all assembled in a free program called Microsoft Photo Story 3 for PCs or IMovie for Macintosh users. With an easy interface, students can readily compile and rearrange photos, program timing and manipulations of the photos and much more. The value of this project is in the students finding material that they think relates to the text they are reading, expressing their interpretations through their findings. Their final product can convey the careful thought they placed in the background music or the pauses between the punctuations of a work.

In my experience, this project was technically easy to complete since Microsoft Photo Story 3 is extremely simple to use. It gave me time to focus on the choices I would be making for my final product. I found the task engaging, interesting, as well as challenging.

The Photo Story I have posted below is a compilation of photos of my nephew while Joanne Baillie's "A Mother to Her Waking Infant" is read. The background music is Colbie Caillait's song Capri. I hope you enjoy my Photo Story as much as I did while creating it.
